Liberty Learning's
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Liberty Learning?
Liberty Learning is a small, faith-based microschool located in Auburndale, FL. Our school operates in the home of certified teachers and functions similarly to a traditional school, though our students are homeschooled and we are hired as private tutors. We offer a supportive, group tutoring environment with individualized learning.
What grades do you serve?
We currently serve students in 3rd–11th grade. Each year, we plan to remove the lowest grade and add a higher one. Our long-term goal is to serve students in grades 6–12.
How many students are enrolled?
We currently have 14 enrolled students, ages 8 to 17, though we anticipate a higher number in the upcoming school year.
Do you serve students with special needs or learning differences?
Yes. We welcome students with learning and behavioral challenges (ADHD, ASD, etc.) as well as neurotypical students. Students must be able to read and work independently for portions of the day.
Are students at Liberty Learning considered private school students?
No. All students at Liberty Learning are homeschooled under Florida law. Parents file a Notice of Intent to Homeschool with their local school district (or through the PEP scholarship program) and assume legal responsibility for their child’s education. We are hired as private tutors to support that education in a group setting.
What curriculum do you use?
We use:
-
The Good and the Beautiful for Language Arts and Math
-
Gather Round for unit studies
Our lessons are designed to be engaging, adaptable, and aligned with students’ individual needs and learning levels.
Do you give grades or report cards?
Not in the traditional sense. Instead, we provide monthly progress reports that include:
-
What your child has been learning
-
Activities and projects completed
-
Observations about strengths, struggles, and growth
-
Steps we are taking to support their development
These progress summaries provide meaningful insight without focusing on letter grades.
